Travel: Puglia

The region of Puglia is shown above in red

Puglia is on the on the southeastern coast of Italy and is known as the "heel" and has the longest coastline of any other region in Italy.  It is very fertile land and produces 3 main crops: olives, grapes and wheat. Puglia produces as much olives and grapes as the region of Tuscany, but the olives in Tuscany tend to be more peppery, where as in Puglia they are a bit more mild.  The grapes from Puglia tend to produce fruity red wines.

Puglia is sunny most of 10 months out of the year, and its winter is still very mild, about 60F.  The architecture has many of the Greek influences and is very unique. Some of the ancient houses look like beehives, and they believe they were constructed by pre-estruscan peoples.
