St. Albert

Patron Saint of Medical Technicians, Scientists, Universal Church
Feast Celebrated on November 15

Born Circa 1206  - - -  Died Circa 1280

Born of nobility in Lauingen, France, it was during his studies at the University of Padua when he decided to become a Dominican friar. He demonstrated a great interest of the natural sciences while at the University. His fusion of the natural sciences with philosophy formed the basis for the proper use of reason in matters of faith. These studies were continued by his prize student, St. Thomas Aquinas. Albert continued to teach throughout Europe until two years before his death, when his mental capacity and memory faded. He was given the title of "The Great" by contemporaries. .
