Born in Toscana (Tuscany) into a small farm family in the hills and olive groves of italy, his father still produces a small amount of "Chianti Bocelli". Andrea Bocelli overcame great obstacles in life, including blindness at the age of 12. He studied law at the University of Pisa and became an attorney before taking a chance on singing and music. He is very active in many children charities. Andrea grew up with a love of Opera and since becoming a worldwide phenomenon, (20 million albums sold and counting) he has met and become friends with Luciano Pavoratti.
