Columbus Distorted, Exaggerated & Lied About
1) Distorted, Exaggerated, Untruths, Taken out of Context Propaganda about Columbus.
Too voluminous to respond to, blaming everything "bad" that has happened in the last 500 years in the World to Columbus, including the WTO!2) Incredible Lies about the benefits to Italy of Columbus' Discovery.
For instance, under Frequently asked Questions #5, it states:FAQ #5. Question: What does this history of Columbus have to do with protesting the Columbus Day parade?
Answer: ..." the parade represents more than a celebration of Italian culture, or even of Columbus, the man. It is a glorification of the colonial tradition described above and the privileging of an Italian past that benefited and grew out of that process of subjugation."Such an ABSURDITY. Any one who knows ANYTHING about European History realizes that prior to Columbus' Discovery of America, that The Italian City-States, were the prosperous Center of trading, finance, and culture of the Mediterranean, the then center of the "Western" World.
With the Discovery of the Americas, The Atlantic replaced the Mediterranean as the principal trade routes, made Spain immensely wealthy, and resulted in the financial decline of the Italian City-States, and an almost immediate "carving up" and "occupation" and "enslavement" of the "indigenous peoples" of Italy for 350 years (1512-1860) by various European powers, including Spain, France, Austria, Germany, etc.
Such preposterous remarks are typical of their perverted and warped historical "research/findings".
3) The Objectives of the Anti-Columbus group
"TRANSFORM COLUMBUS DAY, STOP HATE SPEECH"
"A CALL to end the "celebration" of 509 years of genocide, environmental destruction and globalization from above."Seattle, D.C., Philadelphia, L.A., Prague, Quebec , (Seattle, Genoa) "
"The fight against globalization will make its next stop in Denver, Colorado, October 5 - 8, 2001."
... "This year, AIM and allies will present a massive, vigorous opposition to the parade."
"What began over 500 years ago with Columbus genocide of indigenous peoples, exploitation of their land and resources, destruction of the natural environment, all in the name of profit continues today, and has reached its logical culmination in the current "free trade" regime represented by the WTO, the World Bank, the IMF, NAFTA and the proposed Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA)."
"Reclaim the Streets of Denver!"
"Join us to confront the parade..."
