Christmas Protest in Support of Muslim Woman Sentenced to Death
Around 3,000 people participated in a sit-in last night in Rome in protest of Nigeria's decision to condemn a young woman to death for committing adultery.
The woman, who is named Safyia, was sentenced according to Islamic law.
The demonstration was sponsored and broadcast by the RAI program Zapping.
The host of the show, Aldo Forbice, led protesters who lit hundreds of candles in front of the Nigerian embassy.
Several members of parliament were present as well.
