Sicilian Culture: Puglia

The region of Puglia is shown above in red

Puglia is on the on the southeastern coast of Italy and is known as the "heel".  It is very fertile land and produces 3 main crops: olives, grapes and wheat. Puglia produces as much olives and grapes as the region of Tuscany, but the olives in Tuscany tend to be more peppery, where as in Puglia they are a bit more mild.  The grapes from Puglia tend to produce fruity red wines.
