The Beverages:  Granita

If you have ever been to Sicily, you will see that the lemons are huge, and green, and almost look like limes.  At first I too thought they were limes, some are green and others are partially green and yellow.  In any case, this lemonade can also be used in Granita, the equivelant of a Lemon Slurpy or Slushy (the lemonade served over shaved ice so slushy you can drink it).  In the hottest days of August, this was actually served as breakfast, with biscotti and a similar type of hard cookie I cannot remember the name of.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice w/some pulp
2 cups boiling water
Plenty of fine shaved ice

Simply boil water, add the lemon juice and sugar and stir until fully dissolved.  Allow to cool (you may even want to add fresh cold water). Later Pour over finely shaved ice and serve.
