The Food: French Bread Pizza

Why is something called "French" in here?  Well, the fact is, any good Italian bakery will have this long, thin bread, and you really have to know where to get it, otherwise, it will not taste good.  If you are in Northern New Jersey, try Vitamia in Lodi; Calandras in Newark or Fairfield; or DiPaola in Verona.

INGREDIENTS
1 or 1/2 loaf of French Bread, with or without sesame seeds

Small can of uncooked tomatoes
Salt & Pepper to Taste
A few slices of wet unsalted mozzarella or dry salted mozzarella
1/4 small diced white onion
Fresh basil leaves
1 Garlic Clove
Oregano to taste

If you like really crunchy, cut the bread legnthwise and in smaller pieces to fit into the toaster.  Toast first.  Heat the oven to 350F.  Peel the garlic clove and cut the top of the clove about 1/4 from the top.  Rub the open end of the garlic clove onto the bread, more if you like it more garlic, less if you like less.  Spoon on the tomato sauce onto the bread and add the chopped onions, season to taste with oregano, salt, pepper and then top with the diced or shredded mozzarella and fresh basil leaves last.  Place in oven until the chesse is melted and even a little brown.  You will have some delicious homemade pizza in less than 20 minutes and it beats the hell out of Stouffer's at nearly $4 a package!
