Food: Croutons

INGREDIENTS
Day Old French or Italian Baguette Bread
5 Tablespoons of Virgin Olive Oil
3 Tablespoon of Unsalted Butter
Oregano, Pepper & Garlic Optional

These croutons you make can be used for soups, salads, even an appetizer.  The great thing is that its so simple, you can forget about buying the store-bought stuff that has artificial ingredients, powdered this and that, but make no mistake, they are sure to have just as many calories.  The good news is, your body can break down all natural ingredients faster than those with preservatives (that is my guess and many people back me up on this theory).

In a frying pan add the olive oil then the butter till it foams up.  Sautee a little bit of garlic and discard before it burns.  Add the diced cubes of bread (leave in bigger pieces if you want its to look more like toast) and sprinkle oregano over the cubes while it cooks.  Turn often to cook all sides and to keep from burning.  Remove, put on a paper towel to absorb extra oil before serving.
