Chat Room Archives

This chat took place on Sunday, April 16, 2000, the week before Easter. The topic was set for discussion on remembrances of Easter Past:

Webmaster: Hello All! Welcome to the SicilianCulture.com chat room.  With Easter Sunday next week, today we are reflecting on the "old days" and how our relatives use to prepare for Easter.  One thing I remember are the Easter Bread Baskets with the dyed eggs baked in them. They look very difficult to make but the recipe is in our food section.
J:  Yea, i remember those, and not being able to get into church on Easter Sunday for all the A&P's
Webmaster: A&P's?
J:  Yea, A and P's you know, just like the supermarket, the catholics whoe only come to church on the 2 major holidays and for the Ashes & Palms!
Webmaster: LOL, yea, i know what you mean, i actually had to walk out on Palm Sunday... it was packed and i could not breathe, it was so hot in there, people complaining about the amount of palms they got, etc. (a piece of catholic trivia for you, those palms that are left over are burned, blessed and then distributed the following Ash Wednesday).
J:  Wonderful.
Webmaster: Ok, let's focus on the subject: What DO YOU remember about the family traditions (not the religious habits of others).
J:  Sorry, i am just a recovering catholic.
Webmaster: Gotcha...!  Hello Fioro!  Welcome to the SicilianCulture.com Chat room
J:  Hello Fioro
Fioro: Hello room any good recipes for Easter?

Webmaster: Well, you know there are a ton in the Food Section (www.SicilianCulture.com/food) -- we were just talking about the Easter egg bread basket too (kinda).
Fioro: cool thanks
