The Bar:
Brandy
Brandy is made from distilled wine or fermented fruit juice and is aged in
a barrel. Even though there is carbohydrates in wine or fruit juice, it is
turned into alcohol during the distillation process.
Cognac is the finest grade of brandy. Port
Wine is made by putting brandy in the wine to stop fermentation. The
first to create this were the Moors during their occupation of southern Spain
from the 8th century to the late 15th century.
Grappa - Brandy or by-product of wine, distilled from the seeds, skins of
grapes, said to be a favorite of Hemmingway. Today it is a bit softer than
the harsh old drink it used to be.
