This website was created in memory of my dear cousin in Sicily, Torre.  I never got to say good-bye to him when he died (at a young age no less).  And while we chose not to honor non-public "civilians" with this award (there are countless Italian men and women who are admirable and worthy of award, but we chose to focus on positive role models in the public eye), we think that it is only fitting that we would start this charter award with the person that inspired it.
